Have you ever considered taking a relaxing Yoga Holiday? At TD active Holidays we know how important it is to mind yourself and with life getting busier we wanted to offer a holiday experience where people could get away from the noise, which is why a relaxing yoga retreat in partnership with MOONSyoga is a perfect escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.

What are the main benefits of going on a Yoga Holiday abroad?

Experience a Yoga Holiday

Escape. Instant relaxation of the body and mind. Whilst we’ll have free time to relax or explore our surroundings in between the yoga sessions, we’ll still have some dedicated practice time to either develop your yoga or start your journey. There will be mindfulness weaved throughout the yoga teaching so you'll definitely have some self-reflection during the practices and after  during your leisure time. The beauty of this is that you'll have the time later in the day and evening for this headspace, rather than the usual run from yoga class back into our hectic lives. Sinead from MoonsYoga who has led our yoga holidays since they began at TD active Holidays believes..“The benefit is the education you take away with you off the mat, going home to your local studio with a better awareness and knowledge of the poses and alignments. My objective is to truly inspire through the practice of Yoga, building trust and rapport on and off the mat. I like to guide through an exploration of the connection between body, breath and mind meaning you get to sweat but most importantly laugh and have fun along the way.”

Where are the best yoga retreats in Europe?

Best yoga retreats for holiday

The Algarve is the ideal location to offer for these relaxing escapes – with the sunshine, stunning beaches and quaint towns… it really is the perfect place to unwind! We have chosen the charming town of Sagres as the base for all our Algarve Yoga Holidays. The landscape around Sagres is wild and rugged and gives way to stretches of beautiful sandy beaches and crashing surf. Between yoga sessions, there will be free time to spend at your leisure. Enjoy walks along the coast to the Fortaleza de Sagres, take a surf lesson, rent a bike or simply relax and enjoy the tranquility of the unspoilt natural surroundings. With an enviably warm climate, heavenly beaches and stunning scenery, Croatia is the ideal backdrop for a relaxing and reviving yoga retreat. Relax and unwind beside the crystal-blue Adriatic Sea on our yoga holiday to Croatia. Spend 1 night in the historic city of Split and 4 nights on the beautiful island of Hvar. Settle in with a welcome meet and greet followed by a ‘Slow Flow Stretch’ and grounding meditation. Just imagine it, your mornings and evenings are filled with a range of yoga classes led by a qualified yoga teacher from MOONSyoga, while you will have your afternoons free to enjoy local life in the Algarve or Croatia.

Can anyone join a yoga break?

Yoga holidays for beginners

Beginners are most welcome to join our yoga escapes, but we recommend that you attend at least a term of yoga classes prior to joining a TD active Yoga Holiday to get the most out of your yoga break. For those with more experience, during each yoga practice, variations of poses will be offered, and you can do whatever suits your ability.

What are the yoga sessions like?

Experience a yoga holiday

There will be two yoga sessions a day. Each morning starts by opening up the body and the mind. The aim is to get the energy flowing from tip to toe! The morning classes will build to a relatively strong flow class, incorporating breath work and mindfulness throughout. Starting softly and working up into a series of slow fluid sequences, each morning class will include lengthening, balancing and strength building poses; a heat building Hatha Vinyasa class. We will eventually come back down onto the ground for a deep releasing stretch and well earned pre-breakfast savasana! Each evening the sessions will begin with a warm up, like in the morning, but will focus on a particular section of the body, moving more deeply into it through specifically targeted postures. It will be more like a workshop than a ‘general’ yoga class. For example, the first one might focus on hips and hip openers working towards a climax posture such as pigeon/reclined virasana etc. Another evening workshop could be based on shoulders and arms, working up towards arm balances etc. One could be specific to twists, another to inversions etc. The evening session will be followed by a cool down sequence with time to release, relax and rest the body leaving you ready to float away and enjoy the remainder of your evening!

Looking to stay healthy and active on holiday but want ample time to rest and unwind too? Look no further than our Yoga Holidays in partnership with MOONSyoga.
