Your Madeira Yoga Holiday
Join us on a reviving yoga holiday in Madeira, where we will unwind and discover the spectacular landscapes of this tropical Portuguese island. We’ll be perfectly based in the southern coast town of Canico, overlooking the Atlantic sea and close to idyllic beaches. Throughout this holiday, all 7 yoga sessions will be led by a highly qualified yoga teacher from MOONS Yoga Loft. Each class will be different and will focus on a different theme each day. All yoga sessions will be at an open level, so variations will be offered to intensify or soften each of the poses. Between yoga sessions we’ll also have free time to take in some of the highlights of Madeira. Visit the vibrant capital of Funchal, take a hike in the mountains or enjoy a swim in the natural pools.

Arrive in Madeira
Let’s escape to Madeira, Portugal’s beautiful tropical island that combines stunning landscapes, beautiful natural swimming pools and sensational sea views as far as the eye can see. It is an ideal place to balance our body, minds, and souls during our four-night yoga holiday.
Upon arrival to this tropical paradise let’s meet our local guide and travel to our hotel on Madeira’s southern coast in the town of Canico. Settle into your room, admire the sea views from the hotels’ position overlooking the cliffs and unwind ready for the holiday to come.
Day 2-4 Twice Daily Yoga practice
Morning Yoga Practice
Our second day will begin with a ‘Meet and Greet’ with our highly qualified yoga teacher from MOONSyoga Loft. Let’s chat and get to know our yoga teacher and fellow yogis before embarking on the first of our twice daily yoga sessions included during our holiday
Each morning we will start by opening up the body/mind and getting energy flowing from tip to toe; the morning classes will build to a relatively strong flow class, incorporating breath work and mindfulness throughout. Starting softly and working up into a series of slow fluid (but very accessible) sequences, each morning class will include lengthening, balancing and strength building poses; a heat building Hatha Slow Flow class eventually coming back down onto the ground for a deep releasing stretch and well earned pre-breakfast savasana. Please note, all classes are mindful in nature and welcoming to all bodies/abilities.
You will be free every afternoon to explore the stunning island of Madeira. Why not take a bus into Funchal, the bustling capital of Madeira to explore the Botanic Gardens and admire the city from above on one of it cables cars. Or else you can also hike one of the famous levadas of Madeira or swim in some of the natural pools located near your hotel. The choice is yours!
Evening Yoga Practice
Each evening you will have a yoga class with your wonderful MOONSyoga Loft teacher. The evening sessions will begin with a release for the whole body, like in the morning, but more easeful in nature and will focus on a particular section of the body, moving more deeply into it through specifically targeted postures. Part of the session will be more like a workshop than a ‘general’ yoga class. For example, the first one might focus on hips and hip openers or another evening could be based on shoulders and arms, working up towards arm releases. One could be specific to twists, another to inversions etc. An additional benefit of these evening sessions is the education you take away with you off the mat, going home to your local studio with a better awareness and knowledge of the poses/alignment/benefits. The class will be followed by a cool down relaxation sequence and nourishing meditation with time to release, reset and rest the body leaving you ready to float away and enjoy the remainder of your evening.
Yoga Practice and Return Home
Morning Yoga & Return Home
Today marks our final day in Madeira. We will start our day with a Restorative Rest & Closing Meditation Circle where you will get to release and soothe the body following the previous six classes. Following a healing full body scan meditation you will leave grounded, ready to enjoy your flight and return home feeling radiant inside and out.
After breakfast we will then have some time at leisure before departing to the airport to return home feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and with wonderful memories of our yoga holiday to Madeira.

Will I be met at the airport?
You will be met on arrival at your destination airport and transferred to your accommodation. You will be accompanied on all included excursions by your TD active guide. Your expert local guide is also available to give you tips and advice on any aspect of your holiday.
